Students — Your home away from home | AusBridge Homestay

AusBridge Homestay helps international students find accommodation with reviewed Australian host families. The service includes a four-step process: completing an online application about your school, dates, diet, and preferences; being matched by hand with a suitable host family based on commute, diet, language, and lifestyle; arriving with pre-arranged airport pickup and prepared accommodation; and settling in with check-ins during the first week and fourth week. Host families are vetted with safety documents on file, and students gain cultural immersion through daily life with local families, everyday English practice, and support from a dedicated point of contact throughout their stay.

FAQ

What information do students need to provide when applying?
The application asks about your school, dates, diet, whether you smoke, and whether you prefer to stay with children or a quiet couple. Students under 18 must also provide guardian details, consent, and e-signature. The online application takes about ten minutes to complete.
How does AusBridge Homestay match students with host families?
Matching is done by hand by the operations team based on commute, diet, language, and how each household lives. You receive a host profile with photos of your room before committing. Matching is never automatic, and the service does not guarantee a specific placement.
What support is provided during a student's stay?
AusBridge Homestay checks in during your first week and again at week four, and stays reachable in between. If the placement is not working, they will move you. Additional support includes airport pickup and settlement assistance if requested.
What are the key benefits of choosing a homestay?
Homestay provides cultural immersion through daily Australian life and traditions, language development through everyday conversation, reviewed and safe host families, experienced hosts with local knowledge, and often includes meals and utilities to help with budgeting.
What should students know about visa and health requirements?
Students must hold the correct visa and understand its conditions. AusBridge Homestay does not provide visa advice. Students should arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), plan finances, and seek qualified migration advice for visa-related questions.
